I really like them. Even JKR stated they are cool. And I completely agree nevertheless Neville is clumsy and sometimes Luna acts weird. :wink:
But I want to hear your opinion!
Are they ice-cold or lukewarm? Why and why not?

Full Version: Luna and Neville
I think they could be lukewarm. At the funeral, we saw several couples: Harry and Ginny, Tonks and Lupin, and Madame Maxime and Hagrid. Then there was mention of Ron comforting Hermione, and Neville helping Luna into a chair. Obviously all the rest of these pairing are couples, or are soon to be couples, so Neville and Luna seems very possible.
I like Neville and Luna a lot; they add more realism to the series. Without them, everything else seems too perfect. Gotta love the weirdos!
Oh, I hope they are lukewarm and increasing in temperature! Wouldn't Luna drive Neville's grandmother crazy?

She sure did, but some people still hold out hope. I think they're friends, nothing more. It's something that seems neat to us, but if Neville actually got involved with Luna she would drive him nuts.

I liked the idea of Luna/Neville as well, but as JK has already "shot that coupling down" as most of you have said, it got me thinking.. I actually think that it's much better if Luna & Neville aren't together.. how weird would it be if they ALL paired up by book seven? I don't think that would be very realistic, even given the extreme dangerous circumstances and the fact that many people make rash decisions and marry off when the dark wizards come into power. How many people honestly meet their soul mates in grade school? And I think that they, as single wizards, will contribute different perspectives and focus on other specific things (and not on their "partners").. i.e. a little Neville-kicking-Bellatrix's-butt, perhaps?

Were people as surprised as I was that Neville didn't play a bigger role in HBP? After the D.A. and fight at the ministry, I was expecting some cool things from him (especially with a new wand)... and he was barely mentioned! It makes me wonder if he and Luna will really be that important in book 7. (I hope they are.)
As much as I love Luna and Neville, I'm a bit relieved that JKR "shot down" that pairing; it would be a bit unrealistic and disappointing to me if all the characters were happily paired up by the end of the series. Come on, JKR - there are still some single people in the world, even the wizarding one 
I'm just as happy to see them as very good, very dotty, friends. Even though they would be absolutely adorable together, hehe.
I was a little surprised that Neville didn't play a bigger role in HBP after all that happened in OotP, but I suppose that HBP was a very Harry-centric book. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of him (and Loony Lovegood) in book 7! After all, as DAPo1 said earlier, we gotta see him take down Bellatrix, now don't we? :headbang:

Haha! Yeah a Vampire would be a great match for Luna! Don't get me wrong, I love her! She rocks as a character! The way she just says what she thinks even tho it makes everybody uncomfortable is just fabulous! But I don't think she would be a great match for Neville. I think he's easily embarrased and well dating Luna could get you in a lot of akward situations!! But I love them both! So loyal!
I sure hope they get together however I dont think that JKR would give it all to us by the end of Book 7. Sure she shot down the couple but that doesnt mean she couldnt leave us at the end of the series with these 2 going in that direction. Perhaps they just wouldnt be a couple , YET. Hopefully we would be left with JKR showing us that they are close friends who are growing closer. There would be no kiss, no GF/BF thing like that. When people are put into tragic circumstances they will naturally grow close. I could see this being Luna and Neville. Maybe if JKR ever does a follow up book on what happened with the characters lives after the story ends we would see that these 2 did in fact end up together.
