In book 4, Mrs Weasley was pretty cool towards Hermione at the end till Harry tells her Hermione isnt his girlfriend right?
Well what was her REAL reason for it!
1. Mrs Weasley was upset that Hermione was playing both Harry and Krum
2. Mrs Weasley wants Ron and Hermione to be together
3. Mrs Weasley wants Harry and Ginny to be together
Its prob. number one but it still makes you wonder.
Mrs Weasley is pretty dang sharp so im guessing she knows how Ron and Ginny are feeling

Well, yes I guess everyone knows how Ron and Hr feel, except, of course, themselves, but ow it looks like theyve found out... finally
And about Harry and Ginny, it was quite obvious that Ginny wasnt over Harry, and porbably Mrs W wanted them to be together, she loves Harry like her own son, so who could be more right for Ron and Ginny, that the people theyve known all along, and are practically family!

Somehow, that doesn't sound right to me, If Harry was like Molly's other son then Ginny hooked up with him, that would be wierd on her part but I guess she'd have to switch views to see Harry and Ginny together and not freak out.

Yeah, but theres a difference, its not like Edipo marrying his mother... What I meant was, who woud be better for Ginny (for the family) than someone they've known for years, and lets tell the truth, shes not going to find someone better than Harry!

I reckon all three of those reasons.

Mrs. Weasley would consider all of them children at this point (H/Hr/R are only 14; Ginny 13). No mother wants her kids to be thinking of longterm relationships at that point. Romance is supposed to be light and sweet at that age. Remember the article that Mrs. Weasley read did not just suggest that Hermione was Harry's girlfriends but that she used love potions and was playing Harry against Krum. (It was a nasty story putting Hermione in the worst possible light.) Since Molly, loves Harry like a son, she would feel very protective of him and not like any girl that she thought would hurt him.

It's like the Brady Bunch all over again. Hey I wonder... What would happen if the Weasley's adopted Harry? Would that seal a magically binding contract that would extend Harry's protection, or would not because he turns of age in the summer, thus ending all protection that the Dursley's may offer him.

Yeah I agree that Molly was being sort of protective of Harry and she believed the Prophet of Hermione playing Krum and Harry of each other.

I don't think that there would be any extra protection because
1 He comes of age
2 The important thing about Petunia was her being a blood relative (so a Weasley adoption wouldn't count)
On topic, I think Molly was a little upset for all those reasons. At this point it doesn't really seem to matter though, does it?

Definately the first reason. As Ginnyiscool said, that was a very nasty story in the Daily Prophet putting Hermoine in the worst possible light. No mother would want her sons to be friends with a girl like that.
She was warmer to Hermione after Harry told her that they were not romanticlally attached, and that the article was rubbish. (paraphasing here) :note:

just to settle one thing with everybody that's been bugging me while I was reading the posts: the article appeared in Witch Weekly, not the Prophet! Anyway- We all know Molly thinks of harry as her son, and how would you react if you read in a magazine that somebody was making your son drink a love potion and meanwhile was cheating on him with another boy?

For some reason I think it's most likely 3. Did Mrs. Weasley know Hermione was going out with Krum anyway? She knew that everything Rita Skeeter wrote was trash.

Well, she knew, but when people start messing with people you care about (or it is said so) you tend to forget where it comes from.

I think it is more likely that since Mrs Weasley considered Harry a son, she didn't want him played around with. I dont think ron and ginny had anything to do with it.
Nice idea, though
