Can anyone find any major themes or archetypes of Harry Potter that relate to a classic (or not so classic) myth, epic, play, anything written before 1500 (1500 because that is generally the date associated with the end of ancient history)?

For example, the dreams that Harry has through book 5 are warnings--like the three kings of Jerusalem had before they returned to King Herod. (wow, that was bad, i know...I am extremely tired)

You might be interested in the essays on Scribbulus, some are relevant to your interests. For example, Arianrhod's 2 essays on alchemy, clunycat's essays ('Harry Potter and the Osiris connection' and 'Severus Snape and the Anubis Archetype: Smoke and Mirrors'), perhaps WeaselDiva's 'Biblical Markings and Harry Potter'. BTW when I went to school I was taught that c1500CE was the end of Medieval times, and Antiquity is considered to have ended with the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 CE.
